Fundraiser for Schnauzer Rescue!

Meet "The Colonel", a sweet, older boy who is still looking for his forever home!

It's that time of year again!  We are organizing our 4th annual fundraiser for Miniature Schnauzers and Friends Rescue, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dog rescue organization in Los Angeles County. Miniature Schnauzers and Friends rescue is a small group of rescuers who have been actively rescuing animals in their community for over a decade.  If you go to Miniature Schnauzers and Friends website, you will find MANY dogs in need of homes.  Most dogs from Miniature Schnauzers and Friends are rescued from high kill shelters in Southern California.

Since Miniature Schnauzers and Friends (MSFR) is a nonprofit organization, they rely on donations in order to cover all of the necessary expenses required to care for the rescue dogs.  Such expenses include:
  • Spay/Neuter: $85-130 (varies with size of dog).
  • Cost to Bail from Shelter: $35-150.
  • Shots: $15-30.
  • Deworming: $10-20 (varies with size of dog).
  • Flea Control: $10.
  • Vet Examine: $30
  • Collar and ID-Tag: $6.
  • Grooming: $0-45.
  • Food: $35-50/month.
  • Special medical care (many of our dogs require extensive medical attention such as dentals, tumor removals, surgeries, broken bone repairs, etc.).
  • Boarding a dog: $20-35/day.
  • Special training needs: $100+.
  • Phone bill: $30/month.
  • Monthly Advertisements: $35/month.
  • Other basic cost include leashes, toys, bedding, treats, crates, pee-wee pads.
In order to help MSFR with their expenses, we are organizing an online auction fundraiser that will take place the entire month of August 2013.  The auction will take place on Facebook.  All instructions will be listed on the fundraiser's fan page.  To be a part of the auction, simply join the auction's fundraiser page by clicking HERE.

Now, in order to have an auction fundraiser, we need items for participants to bid on.  Here is how YOU can help us make this an extremely successful fundraiser for MSFR.   If you own a business, pet related (or not), you can donate something from your business. Not only is this an opportunity for you to help out a good cause, but it is also an excellent way to promote your business.  Even if you do not own your own business but would still like to help out, you can donate an item that you think would receive a lot of bids.  Items that we are looking for (but are not limited to) include:  clothes, jewelry, books, gift baskets, pet related items, schnauzer themed items, and the list can go on and on.  Please make note:  this is a national online auction, so all items will either have to be mailed directly to the winner after the auction is over, or mailed to the fundraiser's organizer. (Dasher's Window to Wellness).  Unfortunately, we cannot accept donations that are limited to a specific region because fundraiser participants will be from all over the country.

If you are interested in helping us out, please EMAIL Shannon (Dasher's Window Owner/Founder).  We would like to have all items by May 31, 2013.

ALL FUNDS THAT ARE RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO MSFR!

Dasher's Window to Wellness thanks you for your generosity as do all of the rescue dogs at Miniature Schnauzers and Friends rescue.

With Gratitude,

Essential Fatty Acids-The GOOD Fat For Your Pets

Are you making sure your pet is getting enough fat to help them thrive?
A proper balance of fats, protein, and minerals should always be considered when deciding what to feed your dog or cat. If you're strictly feeding your dog or cat a commericial diet, it is likely they are missing out on a variety of necessary nutrients.

Do Your Homework!

In Canada there is a 19 year old Beagle named Jingles and a 22 year old cat named Spencer. While I haven't met Jingles or Spencer in person, I know a lot about them from their fur mom, Luanne Pelletier. Luanne is the founder of Rusty-Dawg Pet Products, an online store that sells eco-friendly and handmade products for dogs and cats. Luanne created Rusty-Dawg Pet Products in memory of her dog named Rusty, who passed on in 2009.  You can learn more about Rusty-Dawy Pet Products by becoming a fan on Facebook.
